London Marathon 2024

We are proud of our strong charitable culture at Tokio Marine HCC International (TMHCCI). Under the leadership of Katherine Letsinger, our Group Chief Financial Officer and Chair of the UK Charity Committee, TMHCCI has developed a programme which supports both charity partners and employees. The pillars of our charity programme centre around fundraising campaigns, volunteering opportunities, payroll giving, and wellbeing activities organised all year round by the dedicated CSR Team. The charity programme ensures employees belong in the workspace and the community in which TMHCCI operates.

Run

In the UK, April is marathon season and our employees have taken full advantage of the matching policy we offer at TMHCCI! Check out some of our employees’ testimonials about why they are passionate about running and the causes they are all supporting.

Running for our charity partners:

Eleanor Rodgers - I am raising money for Dementia UK as I know firsthand how it affects people and their families, it’s a long slow decline for the sufferers and comes with an increasing burden for their family.  Anything I can do to give families support is worthwhile! I am honoured that TMHCCI has given me the opportunity to run the London marathon for this cause.”

Greta Serpenskaite - “I was offered this massive opportunity by my employer, TMHCCI, to help raise funds for the amazing Wallich charity. I fell in love with running over the lockdown. Running gives me a feeling of pushing myself and sets my mind free at the same time. Whilst I love going on my weekly runs, marathon distance is not something I have attempted in the past. I am extremely excited, humbled, and nervous at the same time. Knowing that I can use a personal challenge while helping to raise awareness of the great work The Wallich does and raise some funds inspired me to sign up for the London Marathon. With TMHCCI’s support, I hope my efforts and hours of training will make a difference for those who need it the most.”

John Nolan - “There can be nothing worse than having a child of yours diagnosed with cancer. I cannot begin to feel what both the child and their family go through when that happens and so I am so proud to have the opportunity to raise funds for the Young Lives versus Cancer charity by running the London Marathon for them. Young Lives versus Cancer provides financial and other support for both the child and family impacted by cancer and can only do this with donations and fundraising events like the London Marathon.”

Running for a charity close to their heart:

Charlie Pearce - “I’m running in aid of a charity very close to my heart, Demelza Children’s Hospice, which offers care to terminally ill children and their families in the South East. From someone who was over 20 stone just a year ago, this is, without a doubt, the biggest challenge I’ve ever put myself through! But ultimately, it’s all about raising as much funds as possible for this wonderful charity.”

Maximilian Donovan“Mental health matters – Every day, people around us are fighting silent battles, and the past few years have only applied this mental health crisis. I want to do everything I can to support those who need it!”

John Hiliier “I am taking part in London 2024 because I am 60, and it’s also part of my long-term goal to be a six-star finisher. I chose VICTA because both my parents have/are suffering from sight issues, and as such, sight is something that is close to my heart.”

Joe Webb - “I am running the 2024 London Marathon for Crohn’s and Colitis UK. I was diagnosed with Colitis when I was 16 and had treatment for several years, culminating in an operation to remove my colon when I was 21. Crohn's and Colitis UK were there to offer all the help and support I needed and raising money for their excellent work is something I have done before and am very passionate about.”

We are incredibly proud of all the TMHCCI runners and everyone else who chose to run this year.
