Summary of coverage

Professional Sports Disability insurance is an accident and illness policy purchased to insure for the financial loss suffered when an individual is unable to participate in their occupation as a professional sportsperson, on a temporary or permanent basis. This product can benefit any individual or company with a relevant financial interest, from players and teams to national associations, sponsors or agents. Coverage includes:

  • Accidental death – if an athlete dies as a direct result of an injury
  • Permanent total disablement – if an athlete’s career ends prematurely because of an injury or illness
  • Temporary total disablement – if an athlete is temporarily unable to participate in their occupation due to an injury or illness beyond a specified period (known as an excess)
