High-earning individuals often do not have adequate disability insurance. Typical individual and group disability policies are insufficient to protect the substantial incomes of these athletes, executives and entertainers. Our prestige disability insurance products for highly-compensated individuals help provide the excess protection that is missing from the traditional disability market.
Tokio Marine HCC - Specialty Group's Permanent Total Disability (PTD) coverage protects the earning capacity of highly-compensated individuals. Often referred to as “career ending” insurance, PTD coverage pays a stated lump sum benefit once the elimination period has been satisfied. Coverage is often purchased by an athlete, entertainer or executive for his or her own benefit. This coverage can also be purchased by a third party on behalf of an individual with whom they have a vested interest.
ATHLETES
Temporary Total Disability (TTD) coverage protects athletes whose injuries will keep them sidelined during the season. This coverage allows teams to pay athletes even when they can't play. Teams also use our insurance coverage as a powerful incentive when recruiting new players.
Coverage provides a daily or per-game benefit for days or games missed once the waiting period has been satisfied. Typically, coverage is purchased by a third party on behalf of an individual with whom that third party has a contract, which is guaranteed to the insured in the event of disability from injury or sickness.
Individual players, especially those whose income depends upon winning, such as golfers and professional tennis players, also find TTD coverage important because injuries and illness can eliminate their ability to play, thereby eliminating their income.
ENTERTAINERS
In show business, people often say "break a leg" but they don't mean it literally. Unfortunately, if it really happens, most star performers don't have adequate disability coverage and they can't get it from traditional sources. Their income potential is too high to cover, too hard to predict, and too difficult to calculate. Our Temporary Total Disability (TTD) insurance has the limits your clients require and the flexibility they need.
Coverage provides a monthly benefit for work missed due to a temporary disability resulting from an accident or sickness. Waiting periods for TTD policies are generally 60, 90 or 180 days.
We can provide TTD to cover performance contracts or employment contracts. It can even be used to attract top talent by including higher levels of protection as part of a compensation package. Each Tokio Marine HCC policy is designed to fit the unique demands of the entertainer.
EXECUTIVES
Our years of underwriting experience allow us to provide the limits and flexibility your clients demand. We provide Temporary Total Disability (TTD) insurance to cover 60 percent of pre-disability income for highly-compensated individuals or insure third party employment contracts on behalf of corporations. These policies can be used to attract top talent by including higher levels of protection as part of a compensation package.
Coverage provides a monthly benefit for work missed due to a temporary total disability resulting from an accident or sickness. Waiting periods for TTD policies are generally 60, 90 or 180 days.
As an added benefit, if the executive has elected the residual rider option and the waiting period has been satisfied, he or she will receive a partial monthly benefit. If the disabled executive attempts to return to work and then realizes he or she is still unable to work at the pre-disability level, there is no secondary waiting period.
